Take me drunk, I'm home!

Ok, just one more she whispers
And relishes the sound of the bottle emptying into her ‘vase’
The red hues
Swirl around the crystal
The legs run down the glass
Smells of pepper, vanilla, blackcurrant
Rush up her nose
Here she goes

Appreciative of beautiful wine
A vintage
Of time long since passed
Captured here in a bottle
Reminder, forgotten

But slowly as the memory
Rushes around the bloodstream
She gives in
More, she asks
Top me up
Overflow my chalice, my cup

More, more, more, keep pouring man
Why are you drinking he asks
Because I can

In vino veritas
Shove that up your ass
Don’t be so crass
It’s not true if I tell you that I love you
I tell you what you want to hear
My words are slurred
My vision blurred
Leave me alone
While I sabotage what we have
Send texts on the phone

Pressing the self destruct button
My enough switch is turned off
I despise me more than you do
I carry the hangover away with me
And swear never to do it again
To get to the bottom of the pain
But cannot seem to find it, perhaps it is hiding in the bottom of a recent blend

Take me drunk, I'm home!

Artist's Description

I don’t believe in ‘In Vino Veritas’. I know I have said things that are not true when I have had too many. How about you?
