The Bridge from Not One More

I had to count
my loss one day
as I looked across
the parting way
to see my love
the fairest child
of peaceful meadows
growing wild
was always in
my heart so sweet
one last time
We’ll ever meet
Across the bridge
from not one more
will I ever see her
on this shore
or play the games
we used to play
when winter seemed
so far away
The joy and laughter
was always there
like beams of light
all in the air
but somehow winters
chill of night
brought snowy mists
of sorrows plight
But is there hope
or sorrows for
across the bridge
of not one more?
Beneath the bridge
the water flows
with tears of sorrow
or hope who knows
but now as fears
are realized
the tears it seems
have crystallized.
with you so far
away from home
the meadows all
have overgrown
Sometimes I think
I hear you laugh
only to turn and see
a lonely path
The echoes ring
all in the air
as I see your ghost
still standing there
I dream to hear
you knock once more
from across the bridge
of not one more.
