Artist's Description

One night I decided to see how good of a shot I could get of Orion’s Nebulae with a sky full of clouds. When you look at this shot, you probably think to yourself that its a layered shot. Well, “NO IT’S NOT A COMPOSITE”, it is an actual digital photo. I kept my Canon on ISO6400 and it really did a great job of collecting the light from the stars in the sky. Since I have a street light in front of my house, it reflects off of my next door neighborhoods house. This shot was taken at 8:00PM Pacific coast time, in March 2012. Jupiter and Venus had already set to my West. I can’t manage to get Mars in with the other planets, yet. As fast as Jupiter and Venus are setting in the west, I don’t know if Mars will catch up with them or not, before they all set in the West before sundown. It’s nice being able to get shots like this from my backyard, whereas with film, I always had to go someplace else to get my shots. I’ve never had a camera like my Canon EOS 60D, until I purchased this one actually, so I was limited to lesser looking shots. I never got any star shots that weren’t lines, until this camera came along. I use the Canon 18-135MM, F:3/4.5:1 zoom lens, so that I can get as much sky as possible in each shot with the lens set on 18MM. This is my backyard view in the town of Vacaville, California in the United States of America! !!!AND DAMN PROUD OF IT!!!
