Artist's Description

This surfer looks more like he is “SLAMING ON THE BRAKES”, rather than surfing. I took this shot last year, 2010, when I went on a Marin Headlands Drive and Walk Photo Shoot with Estes and several other Bubble artists. The only place we saw surfers was on the North side of the Golden Gate Bridge in an area known as The Presidio. There is a nice beach area right here and as you can see, it’s safe for surfers. The fishing isn’t so great here though, too much surf. Since this day, I have had many more days of learning how to use my Canon EOS 60D. Since this became my number one camera, whenever I pick up my Canon EOS Kiss Rebel 300D, which used to be my number one camera, it now feels obsolete. Even the sound of the shutter of the 300D, sounds out of date compared to the 60D’s shutter sound. Anyway, as I followed the different surfers with my lens, a Canon 18-135MM AF IS Macro Telephoto, I managed to catch several of them in comprimising possitions. One guy looks like he is about to kiss the surface with his face, but his feet were planted on that surf board like they were glued on.
