Artist's Description

ON OCTOBER 1, 2009, MY FISHING PARTNER AND I WENT FISHING IN MONTEZUMA SLOUGH NEAR FAIRFIELD CALIFORNIA. THE LAST TIME WE WENT OUT IN MY BOAT, MY FISH FINDER WASN’T WORKING TOO WELL. THE SCREEN HAD BEEN FAILING FOR ABOUT THE LAST YEAR. IT FINALLY GOT TO THE POINT THAT I COULDN’T EVEN TELL HOW DEEP THE WATER WAS. SO, I BOUGHT A NEW FISH FINDER AND INSTALLED IN ON SEPTEMBER 30. I HAD CALLED MY FISHING PARNTER IN VALLEJO AND ASKED HIM IF HE COULD COME UP AND GIVE ME A HAND. MORE FOR MORALL SUPPORT THAN ANYTHING ELSE. BUT, HE SAID HE COULDN’T COME UP AND HELP, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE MADE 5 TRIPS TO HIS HOUSE FOR SOME WORK HE NEEDED HELP WITH. ANYWAY, I GOT THE FISH FINDER HOOKED UP AND WORKING, SO THE NEXT TEST WAS IN THE BOAT ON THE WATER. ONCE WE GOT ON THE WATER AND SETTELED DOWN TO ACTUALLY FISHING, I NOTICED WATER IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BOAT, UNDER THE ENGINE. I ACTUALLY THOUGHT AT THE TIME, THAT I HAD TORN A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BOAT WHEN WE LAUNCED IT. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I WAS EVER “FISHING FROM A SINKING BOAT”, SO, ABOUT EVERY THIRTY MINUTES OF FISHING, I HAD TO HIT THE BILGE PUMP SWITCH TO EMPTY OUT THE WATER IN THE BOAT. IT WAS TAKING ON ABOUT 300 GALLONS EVERY 30 MINUTES OR SO. ALSO, FOR SOME REASON, NUMBER 4 CYLINDER IS NOW TAKING ON WATER, SO NOW I ALSO HAVE TO FIND THE LEAK IN THE ENGINE. ANYWAY, AFTER A DAY OF SITTING IN THE SUN, THE TIDE CHANGING AND THE WIND BLOWING, WE DECIDED TO HEAD FOR THE BOAT RAMP. AS SOON AS WE PULLED THE BOAT OUT OF THE WATER, I NOTICED WHERE THE WATER WAS COMING FROM. WHEN I CHANGED THE TRASDUCER ON THE TRANSOM, I FORGOT TO PLUG A SCREW HOLE, WHERE I HAD REMOVED THE OLD TRANSDUBER. AT LEAST I HADN’T TORN A HOLE IN THE HULL OF THE BOAT. BUT, I STILL HAVE TO FIND OUT WHY NUMBER 4 CYLINDER IS TAKING ON WATER. OH YEAH, WE ONLY CAUGHT SOME SMALL STRIPERS,,,,,,,,,INSTEAD OF THE LARGER STURGEON THAT WE WERE HOPING TO CATCH. IN THIS SHOT, THE SUN WASN’T THIS LOW, I ADDED IT WITH THE AID OF ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 3.0, IT’S A LENSE FLAIR. THE CAMERA I USED WAS A KODAK EASYSHARE Z710 AUTOZOOM CAMERA,,,,THIS SETTING WAS AT ABOUT 38MM. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER SAT IN A BOAT THAT WAS ACTUALLY SINKING
