Artist's Description

THIS TUG BOAT WAS OWNED BY MY MOM’S UNCLE WALTER. IT WAS NAMED AFTER HIS WIFE, “EVELYN KAY”. MY AUNT EVELYN WAS ALSO NAMED AFTER UNCLE WALTERS WIFE. THIS IS BUT ONE TUG OF SEVERAL THAT MY MOM’S UNCLE OWNED WHILE HE WAS IN THE SHIPYARD BUSINESS. UNCLE WALTER HAS SINCE DIED AND HIS TUGS AND SHIPYARD HAVE ALL BUT BEEN DISMANTELLED OR SOLD OFF. THIS TUG WAS USED WAY BACK IN THE 1920’S, OR AT LEAST THAT IS WHEN MY MOM REMEMBERS IT. SHE WAS BORN IN 1929 AND SHE SAID SHE REMEMBERS THIS PICTURE ALWAYS BEING AROUND. IF ANY TUG EXPERTS KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE EVELYN KAY, I WOULD APPRECIATE THE INFORMATION. ALL I KNOW IS THAT SHE WAS USED IN NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANNA.
