Artist's Description

NO, THE WING ISN’T BROKEN. IT WAS MEANT TO FOLD UP OUT OF THE WAY SO THAT MORE PLANES COULD FIT IN THE HANGERS AND ON THE DECKS OF THE AIRCRAFT CARRIERS OF WORLD WAR II. THIS CONFIGURATION OF A VOUGHT F-4U CORSAIR, IS RARELY SEEN BY CIVILIANS, MOST PEOPLE ARE USED TO SEEING THEM WITH THE WINGS FULLY EXTENDED, EITHER IN STATIC DISPLAY OR IN THE AIR. THE CORSAIR PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLL IN THE PACIFIC THEATER. NOT ONLY AS A FIGHTER, BUT ALSO AS A GROUND SUPPORT BOMBER. WITH THE AID OF NAPALM BOMBS, MANY JAPANESE WERE BURNED TO DEATH ON THE ATOLLS OF THE PACIFIC. HOPEFULLY WE NEVER NEED TO USE WEAPONS LIKE NAPALM EVER AGAIN. IF MAN COULD JUST LEARN TO GET ALONG WITH HIMSELF, THIS WORLD MIGHT NOT BE SUCH A BAD PLACE TO LIVE. ANYMORE, I WOULD RATHER LIVE IN SPACE OR ON ANOTHER PLANET ALL TOGETHER. THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN WITH A CANON AE-1, A CANON 100-200 F:5.6 TELEPHOTO LENS AND KODAK 100ASA FILM. ONCE I SCANNED THE PHOTO INTO MY COMPUTER, I COLOR CORRECTED IT AND CROPPED IT A LITTLE BIT.
