Artist's Description

I had the distinct pleasure of spending a week in Canada a few years back. I stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise after seeing it on a public telivision program about the great escape venues of the railroad magnates from the19th century.

Well, I am no railroad tycoon, but I do love anything that has anything to do with trains, and I do enjoy the mountains…so when I saw from the program just how grand this area was, I just had to go.

As I became more familiar with the Chateau, I found one of my favorite places to spend some quiet time was right here in the lounge. It was like being in a library with good book, but one with a view and an eager waitstaff.

As you listened to people from table to table sharing the news of their daily activities, it took me back to a more civil time, before Blackberry phones, social networks and email. I had been ushered back into the past where people actually had honest to goodness dialogs at a relaxed pace.
