As a teenager, my heroes were comedians. Twenty years later, I decided I wanted to draw Richard Herring as a superhero action figure. I can’t overstate the effect Lee and Herring’s material had on me when I was in my teens. I didn’t know it at the time but they helped shape my understanding of comedy, politics, religion and critical thinking and influenced my future self in ways I’m forever grateful for.
