Artist's Description

Well, here is a picture of the miracle scar! I’m hoping the hair regrows the right colour to restore her heart marking (her daughter has one too).

8 weeks ago, my leopard mare Harli ran into a star picket at full speed, severely ripping her pectoral muscle. The vet was summoned, the wound was large & nasty, it took 2 hours to stitch the 3 layers of torn muscle back together & bring the skin back over the wound to try prevent infection having direct access to the wound site.

I moved in to my tackroom, staying on the premises 20 hours a day (I had to travel an hour each way to go home & feed my cats/rabbits). Wound cleansing was done every 4 hours, painkillers & antibiotics administered morning/evening, she could not be confined to a stable as she also had a 2 week old foal at foot.

Harli has healed so quickly & so well even the vet cannnot believe it! She has been living back out with her “herd” for 3 weeks now & is as fit/sound as she ever was pre-accident.

So all you wonderful RBers, this is the result of your good wishes & prayers, an almost imperceptible scar & total healing :-D
