This handsome older stallion is living in the Triple B Complex (Antelope Valley) just north of Ely, Nevada, USA with his familial herd. He is an absolutely handsome battle worn stallion and was very comfortable with us getting close as he and his extended family grazed amid the sage brush alongside the road.
On July 20 2011, the BLM started another round-up in the Antelope Valley, specifically in the Triple B complex. The BLM is planning to round-up 1,700 horses as it says the 1.3 to 1.7 million acres of BLM land can only sustain 500 – 700 horses.
It is heartbreaking to hear that so many horses that are fit and healthy are going to be round-up …chased by a helicopter for miles through desert and scorching temperatures …..some will be run to their death….others will be injured and hurt……nad many many many more will be torn away from their familial herds.
It will just absolutely break my heart if many of the horses I was able to photograph with Jeanne Nations in the Antelope and Triple B complexes are included in this sensless and unnecessary round-up. Older horses such as this magnificent creature will not fare well in a round-up in the soaring and searing temperatures.
Please support helping stop these inhumane round-ups.
