Oh No...Not that again!!

Do we call it love? Romance…..Sensuality…….I’ve even heard the well-worn term ‘Soul mates’ used over and over again. Can we even put a name to that feeling of light-filled joy, or the unplanned and disconsolate sensation of pain and loss when it tears apart?
After hearing numerous personal portrayals’ recounting the drama and heartache of unrequited love, it’s evident that we all recognize the rare and familiar feeling of romantic affection, where your heart bursts into blossom like a flower. Light pours into your soul, there is a skip in your step and hips swing lyrically as though dancing along with the music while performing mundane tasks. The colors of your eyes become a beautiful shade lighter while sparkling with a magic glow. Adorning your body with attractive clothes becomes a blissful venture and energy levels mysteriously transform into heightened vitality. It must be close to paradise. The warmth of a smile shines in the heart and faces of those who are in-love. This is the state of being smitten and love-struck!
Then the fall. Oh yes, that again! How many times have I heard and seen the agonizing display of someone who declared how genuine it all was – it felt real! Unrelenting and sudden thoughts of doubt tiptoe through your mind – ‘was it all an illusion’? or ‘was it just a temporary state of bliss’?
Disbelief and a longing for paradise lost run rampant, without any hope of fulfillment. Questions persist, ‘how did it go wrong’? A determined heavy weight and a gloomy dark cloud afflicts that dancing heart; each hour each minute is a fresh reminder – nowhere to hide. Waves of sadness are impossible to ignore.
Time itself offers the only hope of healing, and finally after exhausting all possible emotions the release and relief of letting go brings comfort to the destitute heart. Peace finally wraps its soft arms around you, as does wisdom and new hope. Soothing solace of music finds its way into your heart again. Songs that relate to your pain suddenly come into audible range. A new and different emotion of guarded trepidation eventually emerges. Who would wish for that pain again! A sense of maturity and caution appears – until the next time!
The revelation transpires that you are not alone. Our collective and tough human journey is to feel the ecstasy and agony of love – in all its glory. It happens again – and again, and again because this is our human predicament as the soul emerges into realization beyond emotion. Is love for ‘another’ really the mirror and fiery awakening of the seed that grows into the flowering of love in its purest and egoless state?
Passion has and will always emanate from my heart and soul, yet now I find myself preferring the passion and love of dance, nature, flowers, trees, writing, humanity, photography and understanding life itself………am I being cowardly in my desire to rise above the wild waters of wreckless passion for another person ……..I have been in the throes of immature love ………I now believe there is a higher love than the ‘neediness’ and ‘grasping’ to satisfy the desires of sensuality and that is what I reach for…………..Love in its depth of consciousness will never vanish!

and make it part of you
it will give you strength”
