Once every month or so, I take the opportunity to visit a falls near where I live.
In some respects, its an interesting project to undertake. The falls does not care if the weather is clear, cloudy, hot, or freezing. That river will be flowing today, perhaps with a little more, or a little less force than yesterday, and it may even almost draw down to a trickle during a severe drought. But it will still be there tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that….
If you are ever thinking of undertaking a study, I would recommend picking some local landmark near you, and visiting it often, in varying degrees of light/weather/season. Its extraordinary to get the chance to visit new and exotic locations on vacation, and I will be the first to jump at an opportunity to go somewhere new. But when you visit a natural landmark time and again, you begin to see it in a unique light and notice the slight differences in all kinds of patterns that you might normally not notice on a first visit, or even a tenth one….
Happy New Year Everyone!
