Artist's Description

This t-shirt is for supporters of independence for Scotland from the United Kingdom Westminster government. The design shows Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, from Lodge’s portrait of the doomed queen in Sir Walter Scott’s book, ‘Tales of a Grandfather,’ published in Edinburgh in 1869. Mary’s signature, Marie R, is underneath the illustration. As everyone knows, Mary fled to England seeking sanctuary only to be imprisoned then beheaded by order of Queen Elizabeth I. The wording reads, ‘Keep the Heid. Vote Aye.’
