The Mermaid

Once there was a Mermaid swimming round beneath the waves
And odd as it may sound to hear…of the water she was afraid

Sometimes it got too much for her so up to the surface she would glide
And gaze upon a Castle on the rocks..to dream of life inside

But then she’d have to go beneath the water once again
Until one night as she began to dive…she heard someone call her name

“Mermaid Mermaid wait a while…oh please!”
She peered over the waves to see
A figure standing on the shore…the voice she heard was me

" Be not afraid of where you are…’tis where you do belong
Beneath the sea you are safe and to leave it would be wrong!
If you like I will visit you to tell you stories of the land
But you must also share with me the secrets of the sand"

From each other we did learn why each of us was here
And through this understanding…we both forgot our fear

I living in my castle and she beneath the sea
But we share and learn together
Why each is meant to be

The look of us is different and we are really worlds apart
But one thing makes us just the same…

And thats the Spirit in our hearts.
