Artist's Description

Locals find surprising the fact that our lake is listed in an international tour book as one of the most beautiful lakes. It has unique charm and beauty at certain times of the year, but in a dry spell, the beauty is of a melancholy or even desolate tone. A family from another country strolled and examined the lake as I sat near by with my camera. I wondered what they thought. They had a chihuahua who was quite interested in Miss Mia, and they all seemed delighted when Mia crawled on my shoulder so she could observe with a greater sense of security and a higher vantage point. I also got the feeling Mia was looking over the top of the lens critiquing my point of view on the photos I took. As I looked at my photos, I wonder how the ones they took of the crazy lady with the chihuahua on her shoulder turned out…. We had no words in common, but smiles are universal.

Taken at Lake Isabella, California, USA with a Canon EOS 7D and a Canon 18mm to 200mm lens.
