Some Good News

The results from the Low Light competition are in, and one of mine placed third.

Click here to see all the results and winning images.

The Photographer’s Critique and Advice group has also posted the entry page for the current competition, Reflections. I can post a link to that a bit later, if anyone is interested. The group is open to any Red Bubble member. The competitions are open to photographs taken this year (photographs not photo manipulations, grunged up or layered up works).

Hope to see more of my Red Bubble family joining in the PC&A competitions for the rest of the year. Come join in fun of the current friendly competition! You will find the discussion thread here with a link to the competition page. Entries must be photography from this year.

Miss Mia's Chihuahua and the Bike Safety Message

Miss Mia has sold more than 60 items from her
“Chihuahua and the Bike Safety Message” series.

So, I thought I might set up this journal to post all the different products in one place.
I thought that also might be convenient for me when I need to change something. Each image is a clickable link so I can get to the page for editing and anyone who might want to buy some of Miss Mia’s treasures can find the right page to do it.

Chihuahua and the Bike Safety Message

Miss Mia always tries to do her part to help with safety.
*A large wall decal of Miss Mia’s
Chihuahua and the Bike Safety Message is on display at
our favorite bike shop. When the shop owner unrolled it,
he was laughing hard enough that he could not speak
for a few moments.

Our Visitor Has Flown!

Recently I posted about the baby hawk who has been growing up in the tip top of one of our towering pine trees.…

Yesterday I got to see him fly for the first time. Not his first time, but the first time I’ve seen him do it. That was amazing. Mommy hawk was nearby to keep an eye on me!

This gives me mixed emotions as I know he will soon be moving on. I hope to get some better shots of him before he goes.

Because seeing him out and about this last week has been so special, the following is something I made up in his honor.

We had a visitor in our backyard….

Baby Hawk Brancher
by Corri Gryting Gutzman

He’s not happy.
He’s just a baby,
and his parents want him to
learn to fly and hunt on his own.
His plaintive cries fill the air
most days now, while his parents
keep a watchful but distant eye

Visit to the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Facility

In response to several requests to check up on the horses and burros at the BLM Horse and Burro Facility that is about an hour and 20 minutes from where I live, we made the trip to the facility just outside Ridgecrest, California, USA.…

The horses and burros responded with immediate curiosity as we drove around the perimeter of the giant corrals. Our new four-legged best friends crowded around us at the edge of the fence. They were, of course, expecting carrots. We did not disappoint them. We hoisted the 25-pound bag of carrots from the trunk and began the slightly difficult task of making sure each animal received enough treats. At each pen, we repeated the procedure of pulling out carrots and walking up and down the fence line, trying the reach carrots to the animals standing back and e
