Life’s needs and our wants to be first

Daily life in a nutshell is a very simple state of affairs,
until we complicate it with greed and jealousy.
We live a life of imagery, caught up is the consciousness
that being first is cool, but some may joust as we try our
best to be the first to have the latest invention on
the market even though most times it’s always lousy.

The first of any invention always have a bug or a defect,
mostly due to the rush to market or a need to cut overhead costs.
Being knowledgeable of this, we still go forward to pluck
down our hard earn cash just to be the first but it’s our loss.
Just to be first gives us bragging rights, but reality hint
that if we wait a few months the market give the price a toss.

What propels us to be so callous with our hard earn cash,
is it our needs or our wants to be the first?
What cause us to be blind to the false claims of the salesmen?
Those who are waiting to quench their leadership’s thirst?
Sometimes these inventions can maim a person,
an adult or child, take a life, or even cause a fire burst.

It’s the thirst to be first, but when that fails;
it’s the need to keep up with the Jones that takes charge,
This propels us to be firm in our pursuit of these worldly goods
even when we are not able to pay the high price, sometimes we become
a ravenous beast in the pursuit of these items putting aside any consequences.

A few months will go by and the invention can be purchased at
rock bottom prices, then we kick ourselves for not waiting, or controlling
the greed, the thirst to be first, which leaves us angry that we paid so much,
In the case of a camera, within is a period of six months to a year
technology puts it on the used shelf .

Especially when there is a new model on the market with an S added to its
model number but the cycle starts all over again and we believe that the
newer the product the more it makes us feel good; being first makes us
rein. But, if we are not careful life’s needs and our wants to be first will
cause us to be doomed, to fall into a state of ruin.
