Artist's Description

Mandala Bindu

BINDU is a Sanskrit term meaning “point” or “dot”. It can denote a small devotional and/or mystical dot that is applied or affixed to the forehead in Hinduism.
In the Shakta school of philosophy, there is said to be a Bindu Chakra, at the back of the head. This center is said to be where Bindu fluid is produced, a fluid that can be the nectar of immortality or the poison of death. It is intimately connected to the Vishuddha Chakra (The throat chakra).
In mystical terms, Bindu is said to the point at which begins creation and the point at which many becomes the Unity. Also, it is described as “the sacred center of the cosmos in its unmanifested state”.
