It just didn’t seem real,
That the beautiful life I saw last week
A warm friendly smile he wore cheek to cheek
Certainly he can’t be gone so quickly right now
Though when I saw him, his head mostly bowed
Withdrawing from loved ones he sat all alone
Now he can rest till the Lord takes him home
So tragic, so shocking he’s taken away
Never again on this earth to see another bright day
His body was riddled in pain and distraught
He’s fought his last battle his final bout
The soft words of wisdom that flowed from his lips
No longer will be here but on Old Zion’s ship
The Captain has come to take His servant aboard
His tired withered body, our Savior has now restored
No one can begin to even fathom the loss
Save only our Lord Jesus who died upon the cross
No, not scrape the surface of another ones grief
Or know all the tears that cannot be relieved
A very quite man his momma had raised
Now he takes that final step, as they lay him in his grave
A son to be proud of that made her life shine
Never showing dishonor at any given time
But don’t you weep for him because he is gone
He’ll be in a place where his life will live on
He is one more flower for that glorious day
An angel reached down
To gather a bud, for the masters Bouquet

Artist's Description

I composed this poem during the passing of my dear and precious brother-in-law. I hope those of you who have suffered a loss can find comfort in knowing we have a God who can and will deliver. He knows and He is watching. Not even a sparrow falls that He doesn’t see, how much more does He see in you and me.
