Sorrowful Scorn

Seeing reality, she stands her ground
Sees her life thrown all around
In mud, rain, and sorrow, too
Just enough to get her to leave here without you

Lines burrow in the brow
Of a girl lost in the now
Who would’ve thought she’d be so bland
To leave her life in the hands of a man

Picture perfect isn’t real
Although it is too real to feel
Even though she doesn’t want this pain
She’d rather have this, with all the rain

Tears stream down the sullen face
A hand reaches out for a lip to trace
A hand that she knows doesn’t exist
But is just a broken memory that continues to twist

Sadness is now greatly needed
Anything to keep her from being conceited
Because she is now all she has left
A single soul, now, bereft
