Memoir

Remember, remember
The seventh of December
The candles lit
This brightest ember

The coldest heart
A place to rest
My mind asunder
Cased in dust

Shutting up, for the night
I’ll shut this out
Before this last, bite
Becomes more than I can chew

It’s you, we remember
It’s you, we forget

Let time beat us down,
Down til we drown,
In roses and arrows
And hope to somehow,

Narrow
down

The point we lost touch.

It’s you, we remember
It’s you we forget

My soul is a rickety shack
Built in the back
Of my mind
To which I’ll never find

You again.

It’s you, we remember
It’s you, we forget

Pained with regret
Remember, remember

The seventh of December.
