Artist's Description

Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 18-200 lens at 63mm, F11, shutter speed 1/100 second, ISO200, processed in Photoshop

The Sunday before last we went for a walk in a beautiful part of the Lancashire countryside called the Ribble valley. The autumn colours were just stunning and the cold sunny day showed them off superbly. The hill in the distance is called Pendle which is famous for witches and the fact that it’s name Pendle hill means Hill Hill Hill. There is evidence of its long history in its name, which in the 17th century was simply Penull. Pen is the celtic word for hill, ull is anglo saxon for hill and Hill was added more recently making Pendle Hill mean Hill Hill Hill in three languages!!!
