On the way back from a day out walking in Derbyshire we were driving over the hills on our way back home, in the distance we could see this amazing sight so we quickly found somewhere to stop and take a few shots. The Tower in the shot is Jubilee Tower or Darwen Tower which overlooks the town of Darwen in Lancashire. It was completed in 1898 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee and also to celebrate the victory of the local people for the right to access the moor. It was opened to the public on 22 September 1898.
