Mother Tree Poem

Mother tree, mother tree, I see you’re all alone,
Mother tree, mother tree, in labour you groan.
Mother tree, mother tree, your roots are laid bare,
Mother tree, mother tree, there’s no-one to care.

The land is parched, the fire has come,
You groan and trevail, your job almost done.
Your seedling is born, as you breathe your last breathe,
The ancestors calling, they greet you in death.

Little tree,little tree, your life has begun……
