Artist's Description

A portrait of Whitfords Volunteer Sea Rescue – Lifeboat Green1.
Patrolling just North of Hilarys Marina (Pinaroo Point) part of the City of Joondalup’s coast, a city in Perth’s Northern suburbs

Its summer in Western Australia, that means blue skies, great weather and millions of swimmers, surfers and boaters. Our lifeboat’s busiest time. During weekends they proactively patrol the areas where they are most likely to be needed.

Depending on the temperatures about lunchtime the “Fremantle Doctor” arrives – a strong onshore wind caused by strong heating of the land in summer. When it hits the water becomes very choppy, in the photo its a blisteringly hot summers day and you can see the cool breeze just arriving.

Photo – Ian Geraint Jones – Crew Whitfords Volunteer Sea Rescue – Northern Perth WA’s independent charity lifeboat service.
