Lover’s Leap

Beams of moonlight seemed to be absorbed by her deep blue eyes. Her lips were wet with the lust that poured from his. “Just this once.”, she thought as the star-crossed lovers stepped to the edge. The water lay in waiting ever so still a hundred feet below, and when they listened closely the cold heart of the deep called to them.

As they peered into each others eyes tears began to fall. His strong arms held her as three simple words escaped his lips. “I love you.” Just as quickly as the words fell the lovers plunged into the tomb below.

Years passed and rumors became legend. The final ledge that peaked above the lake became known as Lover’s Leap. It is rumored to this day that if you go up the ledge with your lover, and say those three words, then you may put your love to a test. However, it is not without risk. You see, if those words are spoken to another in false hopes, then the water is said to swallow you whole. You are to be cast to the tomb of the lovers for eternity. If in fact your words are true then you have certainly found your soulmate. It is said that when such words are spoken from the heart you shall hear the lost lovers singing a song so beautiful that tears will fall to the lake, and they and the couple will be as one.

Now here is the question I ask of you. Do you have so much faith in your love that you could avoid an eternal plunge? I ask this simply as a tool for you use to evaluate your current, past and future relationships. Although such a place is only a manifestation of my imagination, if it was real would your love pass the test?

Sometimes we go through life with such desire that we use the same imaginative process to formulate our ideal relationship. We find one in whom we feel will due for our needs and desires. Yes, there may be attraction and infatuation, but is it really love? Is it the love that keeps you alive when every path brings us to death? Do you have such a love that you will reach ages when appearance is of little concern, yet you are so irresistibly in love that you fail to notice the tracks of life upon your lovers face?

True Love is rare, but it becomes impossible if you settle for infatuation before you find it.
