This was a copy of a painting a friend had found on the net and asked me to do in watercolour, as he only had a tiny pic off the web. The original was dated 1905, the artist is French but I can't understand his surname past 'Rob..' (looks like 'Robbins' , but I don't think it is ) and I was unable to track down any further sources that could cast any light on the fellow.
However, I figure I'm well clear of copyright, so am uploading my copy of the painting as a t-shirt. It was done in A4 size, and I had tremendous trouble getting the expression in the eye just right, going over it several times to aquire all the nuances - ( I think I would describe his expression as cold-blooded menace!)
'Poilu' was the french word for soldier which literally meant 'hairy one'.
Plain color t-shirts are 100% Cotton, Heather Grey is 90% Cotton/10% Polyester, Charcoal Heather is 52% Cotton/48% Polyester
Slim fit, but if that’s not your thing, order a size up
4.2oz/145g, but if that’s too light, try our heavier classic tee.

I love this design and, like every shirt I've gotten from here, is so comfortable that I love to wear it!
