naked in the presence of where your roots grow

I knelt down
to Her naked
with my naked—
my ear to her musk
heavy breast;

her heart beating
in love
with mine.

I listened
to the twist
of her tongue
as it filled me
with wisps
of memory—
her roots taking hold
digging in
circling round,
laying
my body down—

Her story
consuming
my own.

She said,

“Hear what you wish
if you wish,

look up to the moon
if you so desire—
love Her madly!
until you are Hers—
the guest of honor
at Her banquet
of blood cake desserts.

But if you will

give me your ears
and your eyes—
and your love
I will lend you my heart
for a time.

And when all
of your reasons
are frayed,
like the fearsome
night sky in reverse—
and light is
as blind as
your back,

I promise
I’ll carry
you home,
in my secret,
underground
pocket;
until you are
naked
and hungry again,

and back with me
once more.

More in love
than you’ve
ever
been!”

Then I kissed her
in the place
where madmen
can’t see,
and whispered
Her voice

in my ear.
