"How do you want your oceans to look like in 60 years?"

I’ve recently added a new collection in my store titled Wembley Primary School years 1’s and 2’s. They are designs that made with finger painted sea creatures and plastics by the kids as part of their artist inclusion program by me. These series of designs are actually massive 135cm x 150cm art installations that span the school corridor ceiling.…

Each student made a sea creature and an item of plastic they have used that day. The plastic they used represented the plastics that already exist in the ocean. They also chose the amount of copies of their plastics they want in their future oceans knowing that they can’t do the same with their sea creatures.

The results of the activity left a fulfilling image of how every little action can make a massive artwork an

The hidden world of Onomatopoeia

Hey guys!

2017 is around the corner and what better way to celebrate it than with a new series to look forward too. I lie…the series I’m about to introduce to you guys is actually a very old one, much older than my Sewer Princesses! Inspired by the alley ways of Melbourne and the tenacity of nature, I’ve dreamt up of a world full of hipster pigeons, feral cat mock owls and living heritage old buildings that grow houses in seed pods. For a living, these pigeon folk has been making your fairtrade coffee and apparel. Stay tuned!

RB finalist for the 3rd time!

Hello new and old followers,…

The voting for who gets to be the next artists in residence for redbubble is closing tomorrow! I’m sure that some of you know that I’ve been a finalist three times in a row which is quite amazing. Hopefully this time, third time’s the charm and you can help me by voting for me:

What I’ve been noticing though is the huge amount of support from friends, fam and fans. Seeing how my art has grown from the first time I was a finalist to present day is real eye opener. As adults, we don’t get a succinct promotion like what we use to have at school but I do feel something similar when the residency selection period is happening. Perhaps it has to do with the review of work and actively seeking out new things?

I thank you, the voters who have been

"A Dream" is in the LEDGER awards

How amazing is it that an idea can grow into something so much bigger than what you originally intended it to be. David Goei (the writer) has been doing an excellent job at marketing this graphic poem I’ve illustrated and it has paid off! First Singapore comic con portfolio review and now this – being short listed for the Ledger Awards. Thanks David for really putting your Heart and trust into this project! Lets catch that shooting star <3

A Dream - a graphic poem

Would your eyes like a visual treat in a comic book form? I got hired to illustrate a beautiful story about a girl named Victoria and her journey to help an unexpected friend. David Goei, the writer, currently has a campaign running on Indiegogo so you can get a copy for yourself! This project was definitely a flight away from my usual “sexually charged” works and an artistic exploration using Studio Gibli methods. What makes this different from most comics nowadays is that the coloured backgrounds have been traditionally painted. Its been featured on as an interview and even got parts of it reviewed by a Marvel Edition at singapore’s comic con!…

Vote for me to be the next Redbubble Resident Artist!

So after receiving word that I and my friend, Sasha Heath, got into the final 10 to be selected for the next Redbubble resident artists, I conjured up a campaign strategy to help encourage friends, fans and family to help vote everyday. Its called #voteSashanSerene and basically we would put up things that we would do if we got the residency : Artist studio space, artists tools, masterclass ideas and so on. Sasha and I even did a small collaboration piece together!

You can see them on my Instagram feed, tumblr and facebook by searching @serenekitchen or #votesashanserene. If you like what you see, please remember to vote for I and Sasha!
