Demons of the day

They come to me at night as I try to sleep
The demons of the day that survive in the deep
They live beneath the surface in a place that’s cold and dark
A place that we all know of but seldom do embark
The negativity the words that bring the pain
When the morning sun comes up I’ll face it all again
I need to get some rest gotta clear my head
But the demons of the day have moved into my bed
I take a deep breath and tell them to go away
But they don’t want to listen they say they’re here to stay
So I think about the good maybe say a little prayer
But some are still alive they’re tearing through the layer
They’re trying to reach my soul but little do they know
my soul is tried and true it’s been tested through and through
So bring the clouds and rain I’ll make the sky turn blue
The morning brings a whisper and asks me what to do
I pull her close and hold her tight it’s all for me and you
One by one I stack the demons left over from before
I drown them in the shower and rinse them to the floor
I’m out the door this morning with a smile on my face
The demons are defeated I will win this race
