Artist's Description

A dead tree appears to be writhing in agony, straining against the metal straps binding it’s roots.

This is the Burmis Tree, an estimated 300-750 year old, now dead, limber pine that has been preserved as a famous landmark. It stands along Highway 3 in Alberta, marking the entrance to the Crowsnest Pass through the Canadian Rockies. – More on the Burmis Tree
