Shoes float me to the street

Shoes float me to the street
like a couple of holy ghosts
wrapped around my toes.
I bought their freedom
while they liberated me.

We became adventurers
like Huck and Jim
paddling the shoals
jogging the deep
of the Mississippi

The smile on my face
lightens heavy hearts.
But my silent enigmatic
shoes carry me along in
in their existential shoe-ness.

We jump the hoop
of the routine everyday,
me in my shoes
and all of us
in our natural.
