Another bit of fun – I really enjoy this :)))

I wish I hadn’t married you all those years ago
I don’t know why I did it when my heart was saying no
You lied to me and cheated on me all our married life,
never content to remain truthful only to your wife

You frequently bought flowers, without me realising
they were to make yourself feel better when you’d been fratranising
with anyone and everyone, I don’t think you were choosey
just so long as you could get your jollies with some floosie

Me? Oh I had no idea, I trusted you, you see
Too busy with the every day chores of work and family
As time went by the doubt crept in from all the lies you told
I knew that I would leave one day, when our family left the fold

Bitterness, real bitterness, oh what a way to end
Although I didn’t love you, I thought we could be friends.
Hell hath no fury like man scorned, I’ve often heard it said
Your hostility and nastiness filled my days with dread

Many years have passed now and rarely do I look
back in time and think about the path that my life took
I reached a crossroads in my life and to happiness I turned
Any memories I had of you are buried, tossed or burned

I wish I hadn’t married you all those years ago
I compromised my happiness more than I’ll ever know
I think I deserved better than the crumbs you threw to me
Always being there for you, you were never there for me

Memories are funny things and I really don’t know why
this has all come back to me when I have better fish to fry
But it has given me inspiration to write another verse -
no matter hard life can be, it has certainly been much worse

Oh I am so very glad I left you all those years ago
So glad to have my self respect, so glad that I now know
that I will not be second best, for I am worth much more
and I am looking forward now, and with happiness I will soar
