New Millennium

New Millennium

Want to do the Devil
In my brand new shoes
Just like Jesus and Dolly
With the Millennium Blues

Want to prove that I can do it
And do it again twice
Just because they crucified me
When I was trying to do it thrice

So push those eggs slowly
And ask the virgins real nice
They don’t have to be pretty
In the Devils new Paradise

So don’t worry about your children
Dying in their cells and the womb
You know that no-one is listening
But we’ll make room for them real soon

Welcome back to the tree and garden
And its’ knowledge and life
It will not be long before you recognise
All the Hell fire and strife

What a wonderful little play thing
I have found here on Earth
Thank God for throwing me down here
And for the gold frank incensed mirth

Enter on a cold morning
Fair doctor with news
“Your clone has been delivered
Against all the worlds’ views”

“Yes, wondrous tidings you bring
But how long now the course to steer
And how to cradle the news
So that one day we may a new carol hear”

“But why should you worry
At just another new suit
When all think just a story
And fairy tales and fable your root”

“Perhaps with each telling
Or maybe just at some
There is one truly listening
With understanding and then come

To bring me from my future
With the simple truth in his word
‘Don’t take the fool your saviour
It’s just old Satan with his sword’

How can I then continue
To seduce the world as one
When the truth is finally awoken
And my cowards reign is done

Even when the dead are risen
( And the reason a device)
Can a devil truly hide
When men see and are no-longer mice

This is what I fear
If a man can really see
The beauty of the continuance
That there is no-one there for me”

“Sad lord do not place things
Where they can not be
How long have you remained
While all around die and do not see”

“So I sit and wait again to see
If he can be as man as me
Or will I again in refusal see
That even my reflection rejects me”

“But remember again my lord
How when even the world has declined
That how easily the doubt was heard
And the virgin so easily aligned

To just the simple dream
That all is at the creators hand
While you so easily hid your scheme
And your shepards seduce the land

And all was so easily brought
No more than a few years pay
And the frank incensed thought
And mirth of the Magi at play”

“But things are much clearer
With each rolling back of the stone
And the play has to get far deeper
If our deceptions are to remain our own”

“Even though those that we have risen
From the fallen bones of the past
Have back with their haunted lesson
That true continuance is lost to the grasp”

Artist's Description

Started this in 1999, thinking about the clonning of Dolly the Lamb, and the lost messages and teachings of religions. My neighbour knocked on my door while writing. I never got back into the swing of it so it sat there for years. Added 3 more verses and that’s were it ended.
