Artist's Description

A couple of hand basins of the many that are found throughout the factories on Cockatoo Island. From 1839 to 1850 it was a Prison for convicts from Norfolk Island. Then from 1850 to 1992 Cockatoo Island was an Industrial complex and ship building facility. Today it is a part of Sydneys heritage and owned by Sydney Harbour Federation Trust.

Again, I offer my thanks to Phillip Johnson for organising a trip for the redbubble HDR group, of which I attended and got to explore Cockatoo Island for the very first time. It is an amazing place that I am sure I will return to. Also the Trust has works still underway that will open up other parts of the Island in time.
