Artist's Description

Due to geographic restriction, elephant numbers have been rising in South Africa and neighbouring countries such as Zambia and Zimbabwe. In order to prevent overpopulation and destruction of their ecosystem governments have been working to “cull” the elephants, essentially killing a few herds every year. However, Greenpeace stepped in and boycotted all national parks participating in the culling project, causing the parks to lose visitors and money. Soon they all were forced to quit their culling and the elephant population was back on the rise. No one knows exactly what the right thing to do is, or what will happen when the carrying capacity of the area is overrun with competing elephants.
