These are wild butterflies mating in the fields behind my home in the Fens of Cambridgeshire.
They are the darkest of our wild butterfly’s, with wings open a lovely chocalate brown. not as colourful as most but still a very beautiful butterly.
Unmistakable with either wings closed or open, there are at the moment thousands in the fields, all no doubt looking for partners, this one I think got lucky.
I must confess I felt like a bit of a peeping Tom.
