Artist's Description

An empty tobacco barn stands waiting for next year’s crop to be hung and dried inside. The smell that permeates the air is just incredible. A rich cigar/pipe smell….not so much that it makes a person with asthma want to gag…but rather…makes one think of grandpa sitting in front of the fire with his favorite dog at his feet.
This is actually a semi-retired barn located in NW Missouri. It’s caged up now with a new roof due to past intruders and past extreme weather issues. Still a beautiful place to go and stand in the doorway though.
This barn has stood for over 100 years. No, the light you see is not because it IS old? But rather…that is where the heat/sunlight/wind comes thru to help the tobacco dry faster.
Being one of the few states that still grows it, most people don’t often get to see the process it goes thru from start to finish.
