We live in a society that either is so affluent that compassion doesn’t come into play because they have everything they need; live in their own world; sit in their ivory towers, totally oblivious to others’ needs, or really don’t give a damn and by contrast the other end of society people are living in a cardboard box or a home falling down around their ears because they have lost their jobs; with little hope of an opening for a new one. No ivory towers for them.
It might be a loved one has passed on or that person is all alone.
This Christmas I suggest we exercise a willingness to ‘reach out’ to one another even if it is just a hug, a smile, a home-made cake or a phone call to ensure your neighbour is ok.
I pray that within this escalating selfish corrupt society we might show human kindness and rekindle compassion and love for one another.
You know where it starts? With me, with you. Let’s reach out this Christmas and extend it to all year round.
We might not have much, but compassion, kindness and love go a long way to making another feel so much better.
