Everett, United States

I’ve always been very influenced by my emotions driven by my surroundings. The smell of the water, the rain, the sun, the people...

Born and raised on the Port Gardner Bay, Navy town, Everett, Washington. I have one older half sister, four and a half years older, and two younger full blooded brothers, 10 and 11 years younger than me. My youngest brother, Samuel has been one of the most influential people in my life, and continues to be a strong supporter and believer in my talents from the other side of the world as he is serving this county as a United States Marine.
My parents both born in the Puget Sound, we together for about 15 years of my life, the last of which were extremely unpleasant. I lived with my mother after the divorce and developed a strong relationship to her after that point, but not before. My father, in whom I was closer to as a child wasn’t in my life as much until I became a mother myself at my request.
As I was 16 and my mother was always gone working hard to keep us in food, I spent a lot of my time raising my brothers, which is the only reason I did not get hooked on crank as a teen. All my friends had suddenly found the drug and used it instead of graduating. It was a trying time, but I am thankful for the experience as it made me more mature and and gave me and opportunity to not get hooked on life altering drugs. (I do not believe marijuana is a drug).
I graduated from Everett Alternative High School, on time in the year 2000 (Everett High was my home High School. Proud seagulls! Everett MAN TILL I DIE! :) )
Soon after graduation I met and fell in love with my ex husband of 11 years. We had a child and fought hard in low paying jobs to make ends meet until my ex had the idea to save our family by joining the Army were I myself served our county as an Army wife and mother for 7 years. I and our daughter traveled behind my ex to El Paso, TX, Mannheim, Germany, and Lawton, OK before retiring my daughter and myself back to our home, back to our civilians selves.
That sacrificing service, sculpted me into the strong and independent person I am today, and although I lost my marriage to the trauma that a 15 month deployment in Iraq and the stresses of the military family, I wouldn’t change that experience for the world.
I’ve lived as far south on the Puget Sound as Lacey, Washington, as Far East as McKenna, Washington, as far North as Granite Falls, Washington, and so many places in between. But my favorite places are in and around Everett, where we get that beautiful view of the Port Gardner Bay, the Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and MOST importantly, the Mt. Pillchuck chunk of the Cascade Mountains. I’ve always felt extremely lucky to be able to call myself a Puget Sounder, born and raised. This is MY home, and yours, and I love to express the love for where I live in my photos.
Another huge impact in my life, is my only surviving daughter, Sadie Cadence. She was born six weeks short of my one year anniversary to my ex-husband at age 21, and as any mother would profess, she is the most important and special person to me. She has influenced me to capture the beauty and innocent in her and in other children, and as such she is the subject of quiet a few of my pieces.
I have worked mostly in customer service and recently as a commercial painter, but my joy is my art. My photos, my drawings, my stencils, and other creations I put together along the way. I hope to one day retire all other trades to pursue a career in the arts, as I am attempting the fete now.
