Artist's Description

I was watching my (signed!) special edition Blu Ray of The Last Unicorn, with commentary from author Peter S. Beagle and publisher Connor Cochran the other day. Obviously, I am not new to the story of The Last Unicorn, but listening to the two men talk brought up a point I hadn’t ever thought about before (mild spoiler coming, so consider yourself warned).

As wonderful and safe perfect and magical as the Unicorn’s life was before she began her quest, it was incomplete. She had to become a mortal girl to learn how to love. And though it was a painful lesson for her, and it changed her forever, still it was a good thing. And on days when I am cursing my physical body for the evil tricks it plays on me through my illness, it is comforting to remember that being a mortal girl may provide invaluable lessons for me as well.

The light swirls here were created just with a flashlight and a long exposure :)
