Artist's Description

“Watadage” is one of the most attractive architectural monuments constructed in the “Anuradhapura era” (243 BC – 1070 AD, Buddhist Calendar 300 – 1113) of the Sri Lankan history. The creator of it is unknown.
Watadage was constructed as a protecting cover to a Stupa (a place where sacred remains of Lord Buddha is kept) placed underneath it and used for religious worshiping.
