Organic Paintings

Not all of my art is non toxic, particularly not my imagery, but my organic paintings are. This series of paintings began in 2003 when a light bulb went off, of-course, Organic Paintings. After much research, my wife and I gathered materials from numerous sources to bring them together to create, as best as we know, the first truly zero VOC paintings. We start with organic cotton and hemp canvas stretched on hand made cedar stretcher bars. We then prime them with a zero VOC gesso ( which we acquired from a company who was just developing the product, we are not sure the gesso ever made it to market, but we still have cans of it with copier made labels.) we then finish the paintings with natural scapes painted with a few different brands of zero VOC paints. This is still an ongoing series. I hope this concept will reach a larger audience and help other artist to leave behind the toxic materials we are all accustom to.
