Artist's Description

This colour pencil drawing was completed on 24th September 2012 using Caran d’Ache Prismalo Pencils (without the use of any water) and Derwent Studio Pencils. It measures 28cm by 36cm and is on heavy cartridge paper.

I’ve owned Dylan for about 21 years now, since he was a yearling. We had lost our old pony and needed a companion for my horse. We went to Southall Market in London and there was Dylan, in the midst of utter mayhem, standing calm and quiet. He cost us £750 and was good as gold in the horse box coming home. I don’t think he could believe his luck as he came into his new field and met his new best friend.

Dylan has sweetitch which means he’s always been a challenge. He can break down just about anything, scratching his bum and shoulders all the time. Thanks to a regime of minerals, anti midge spray and 24hr access to stables (they are free to come and go), we have it under control. But make no mistake, he has ALWAYS been incredibly naughty and really should have been called Houdini.

I love him so much.
