Ring-tailed Dragons are a common species in Central Australia. There are several sub-species. According to Wilson and Swan’s Field Guide and the location it was photographed it should be a Ctenophorus caudicinctus slateri. The Krichauff Ranges are next to the Finke Gorge National Park, bordering the more famous Palm Valley. With a bit of patience it is not too difficult to approach these lizards. My Nikon D90 and the 55-200mm Zoom did the job.
