A line of blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus) leave a waterhole in single file. Having slaked their thirst, they’re heading out to take advantage of the cool of the day to begin feeding on the short grasses.

fabulous backlighting to this shot … I find wildebeest a very strange, um, beast… in pictures they come over as huge and powerful, yet in real life they seem somehow ‘comical’, like somebody up there made a bit of a mistake in the design and manufacture!!
I’ve been informed by those in the know that they were put together by a committee and more than one of them must have been drinking more than just spring water! I love watching their comic performances but have always found them challenging to capture well on film.
