There have been few occassions where I’ve felt really uneasy about a lion (Panthera leo) sighting, but this was certainly one of them. We were sure that she had very young cubs in the area and from her body language I’m sure we’d found the spot. She had a sense about her of being a coiled spring, ready to shoot into action. Lions typically have a very lazy quality to their gaze but this girl had us riveted in her sights with every muscle tensed!
