The African Civet (Civettictis civetta) is a nocturnal omnivore with a somewhat indescriminate taste for a wide range of fruits and small prey up to the size of hares, ground living birds and anthropods.

Civets are regularly spotted on night drives, although close encounters are not too common. We had the rather interesting fortune of enjoying no less than eight good Civet spottings over the course of five days, which is unusually high in my experience.
