Artist's Description

St Lawrence Church at Mereworth in Kent, UK.

St Lawrence was built when the lord of the castle decided to renew his building and demolished the medieval church and built this one half a mile away.

Built in the style of St Brides Church in London the interior features examples of Trompe L’oeil art at the west end of the nave. The balcony is real but the swags, cherubs and organ pipes are all two dimensional paintings.
